On the heels of scoring his first NHL goal, Emil Andrae has arrived in the NHL. As an undersized rearguard, there will always be scrutiny regarding his ability until he’s proved it years. As he’s breaking into the league now, there are questions about his upside for fantasy. Will he run the top power play? How high in the lineup can he play? We’ll answer these questions and more in this prospect prospective.

Andrae was drafted 54th overall in 2020 by the Philadelphia Flyers. The EP Rinkside team ranked him 52nd that draft cycle, which is pretty in sync with where he was drafted. The team urged us all at the time “do not -- I repeat, do NOT! underestimate…Andrae because of his 5-foot-9 frame.” He has not grown taller since his draft but has filled out his frame.
