Analyzing the biggest moves following the NCAA's ruling on CHLers

NCAA

The landscape of hockey has changed forever.

After a long-expected ruling in November, CHL players will be allowed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey.

With it, a new era of player freedom has been ushered in. CHLers without NHL contracts can take the next natural step in their development and move to the NCAA, instead of playing a depth role in the professional ranks.

That move has led to an avalanche of movement: NCAA commits joining the CHL, uncommitted prospects departing Junior A and the USHL for the CHL, and CHLers committing to the NCAA.

How exactly it all looks in a couple of months – or years – remains anyone's guess, but we'll be covering the biggest moves in this article, updated throughout the season.
