A brief recap of today’s NCAA tournament games:
No. 9 Quinnipiac 3, No. 8 Wisconsin 2 (OT) (Providence regional)
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — This was exactly the kind of game Quinnipiac wanted. They are one of the best shot suppression teams in the country, year after year, and this season was no exception.
However, Wisconsin came in averaging more than 35 shots per game, fifth most in the nation, and it would clearly be key for the reigning, defending champions to keep that Badgers offence under wraps.
Final shots on goal were 32-20 for the Bobcats, which is really notable because this game extended deep into overtime. It was the fewest shots the Badgers cobbled together all season.
In the end, Quinnipiac manufactured enough offence to pull out a 3-2 overtime win on two goals from Victor Czerneckiana
