Dispatches from the Waiver Wire: Oct. 3, 2023

While there were some intriguing names on the waiver wire on Monday, everyone cleared. 

That’s the reality at this time of year. Teams still haven’t made their full cuts, have extra bodies still in camp and remain loyal to those who have been in camp since Day 1 as opposed to snagging another player off the wire. 

Is it the right approach? Probably not, but it’s the typical NHL protocol and most teams think this way. 

So we go again today, Oct. 3, with 13 players on waivers. Here are six that likely won’t get claimed, but at least could raise some eyebrows and spark some internal office discussions. 

Jacob Bernard-Docker, Ottawa Senators – A first-round pick in 2019, taken 26th overall, who never panned out. Bernard-Docker has struggled in Ottawa and in 32 NHL games over the past three seasons
