The 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships did not end the way Team Sweden had hoped for. The Swedes suffered a gruesome defeat in the quarterfinals against the Swiss and failed to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2006.

Sweden is looking to bounce back and put themselves in contention for a medal. Their defence could very well be both the best and deepest in the tournament, and the international rink sizes could prove to be a huge benefit for Sweden and their mobile, skilled and puck-moving defencemen. If there’s one area that bears scrutiny, it’s the Swedish offence, a group full of question marks.

Group A looks like a two-team group, where rivals Sweden and Finland will battle it out for first-place. That means a relatively comfortable journey through the round-robin stage.
